London Lions 0 Kings Langley 1
Kings Langley picked up a well deserved victory over title-winning London Lions to secure a top-six place in MSSML Division One.
Lions were looking to end the season in style by breaking the 100-point barrier, but Kings had other ideas and earned the points courtesy of Division One top scorer Jimmy Armstrong.
The first half of the game produced little in the way of clear goalscoring opportunities, but the introduction of Armstrong after 54 minutes turned the game.
Seven minutes later, Adam Hallissey produced a dazzling run that was halted by Lions’ Jake Gottleib just outside the area – resulting in a second yellow card for the London man.
Armstrong was beginning to make his presence felt and forced Mario Cenolli into a fine save after 69 minutes and then almost turned in a cross from Tom Carter.
And as the game entered the last ten minutes, Kings began to turn the screw and exploit the numeric advantage.
A well worked move ended with Cenolli making a great save from Ben Long, and Luke Ladyman hitting the post with a header.
But the decisive moment came when Hallissey hooked back a Carter corner and Armstrong slotted home to secure the win.
