Tring Athletic 0 Ampthill Town 2
Tring Athletic ended their season with a home defeat to high-flying Ampthill Town which sees them end the campaign in 16th place in the MSSML Premier Division table.
Ampthill took the lead in the 28th minute through a deflected effort, and Michael McKenzie made sure of the win with a header in the second half.
Both teams had chances to open the scoring early on, with the pick of the Tring chances falling to Martin Skinner and Che To.
First, Skinner fired wide after being played in by Laselle Simon, before Cho saw his effort saved following good work from Tony Fields.
But the turning point in the game came when Ampthill made the breakthrough in highly fortuitous circumstances.
A harmless looking mis-hit shot took a wicked deflection and looped up over Tring keeper Mike Underwood and into the net to give Ampthill a fortunate goal.
Tring searched for an equaliser at the start of the second half, and Martin Skinner forced a save with a back-heeled effort.
But it was the visitors who struck next to seal the win.
Tring failed to clear the ball in the corner and the resulting cross was headed home by McKenzie to make sure of the points.
