There were goals galore in the latest round of Hemel Hempstead Leisure Leagues fixtures.

Newboys ATBL were first up in the Championship against experienced Butterflies FC.

The sides were tied at 2-2 at the half-time whistle and the match remained close throughout.

ATBL striker Jimmy Ambrose gave his team the edge with an impressive hat-trick, while team captain Charlie Bull netted a superb left foot volley on the turn.

ATBL went on to win 8-7, despite a late comeback from Butterflies.

Elsewhere, Rob Woods was on form again as he contributed several goals in Exeter Gently’s emphatic win over an under resourced Fat Dads.

Woods picked up the man of the match accolade once again for an outstanding overall performance, while fellow player Mark Purcell scored the goal of the night with a scorching shot which followed a skilful Cruyff turn. Meanwhile, the Dads were lacking the voice and direction usually supplied by absent captain Ian McConnell, and there were other first team regulars missing too, which certainly didn’t help them recover the nine-goal deficit by the final whistle.

AEK Hemel beat Chicken Kiev 6-4 to remain in third place in the Premiership.

A fantastic work rate from AEK mid-fielder Thomas Bagley earned him man of the match, and he’ll almost certainly feature in AEK’s starting line-up in games to come.

Kiev are still missing experienced centre half Neil Spencer who is recovering from an injury picked up in training – his return cannot come soon enough.

Zie Germans’ dynamic forward Ryan Charles scored a scorching seven goals in his team’s tie with resilient Norfolk & Chance this week.

Charles helped his team establish a 7-5 lead by half-time, but Norfolk refocused after the break and looked sharp on the counter-attack.

They managed to find their next gear and even led Zie Germans 9-8 at one point, with Chris Cullen and Charlie Martindale each celebrating hat-tricks on the night.

However, Zie Germans regrouped, re-adopted their man marking strategy, and pushed on to claim the win 14-10.

Fred West Ham maintained the pressure on the Premiership leaders as they won comfortably against a fatigued looking Hemel Elite.

Man of the match Danny Imlach was pivotal for Fred West as he scored four and assisted goals for several fellow players – Alex Jackson also netted the same tally.

Despite another fine display by goalkeeper and captain Chris Wyatt, who at one point made three incredible successive saves, Hemel Elite were simply not dangerous enough on the attack and this ultimately cost them the match.

Puyol Pants Down maintained their 100 per cent record this week, making it six wins from six games.

The Fellowship were not at full strength as reliable midfielder John Cotton was forced to abandon a warm-up due to injury, which may have proved a crucial loss pre-match.

Craig King was on top-form once again for Puyol has he scored for his team and contributed to several sublime passing moves. Puyol ran out 7-4 winners.

Have You Got It appeared well prepared for their tie with AEK Hemel, as they lead from the start and went on to celebrate a cool 8-3 win.

Player/manager Asa Foster was awarded man of the match as he was on the scoresheet and linked up extremely well with supporting players to produce some quality football.

Nice To Michu stay at the top of the Championship following their emphatic win over Hello Boss.

Danny Roberts was impressive throughout and scored a total of nine on the night.

Hello Boss should take some consolation from their fantastic team spirit and perhaps focus on their perseverance up front which would enable the goals to flow.

Dave Amos will want his team to be well prepared for their match with Have You Got It next week.

Anyone interested in joining the league as a team or an individual player should call regional manager Gary Connell on 07983 225566.
