Bovingdon Cricket Club will host a match against a Bovingdon Legends team to celebrate the contributions of its two longest-serving members.

Between them, club president Ron Cornish and past president John Abraham marked a century of association with the club this year – it is John’s 60th year as a member and Ron’s 40th

As players, John took nearly 600 wickets for the club while Ron is Bovingdon’s leading run scorer of all time with more than 20,000 runs.

Just as significantly, they have continued to play an active role in the Club since retiring and have done a huge amount of work behind the scenes.

The celebratory match will get under way at 2pm on Saturday, September 21 and will be followed by a reception.

“The dedication and effort of the likes of Ron and John is crucial for clubs such as Bovingdon and it very appropriate this year to celebrate their contributions,” said Bovingdon Cricket Club’s Mark Carine.

“We’ve had a great response to the event.”

The Legends side is made up of former players from throughout Ron and John’s time at the club, and any former players are welcome to play.

Grovehill Ballpark gearing up to host junior baseball bonanza

The top youth baseball teams from around the country will congregate for the national quarter-finals at Grovehill Ballpark in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.

Herts teams will be in action in both the U14 and U17 competitions and would love to have the support of the local crowd to help them advance towards the national finals.

This is undoubtedly the most exciting part of the season, and the opportunity for Grovehill Ballpark to host these key clashes is reward for all the hard work that has gone into developing the facilities and working with the community in recent years.

Admission is free and fans and families can enjoy the baseball action along with traditional baseball snacks, including hot dogs, donuts, bubble-gum and other snacks and drinks.

Baseball gloves, bats, bags, and other merchandise including baseball memorabilia will also be on offer at the retail outlets around the ballpark.

On Sunday, again at Grovehill Ballpark, it is the turn of the adult teams.

The top-tier and second-tier teams who have qualified for the play-offs, based on their record in the league, will be in action in do-or-die contests for a place in the national finals.

In the top tier, the Herts Falcons have already secured a place in that final-four stage by virtue of winning the league.

More information will be released in the build-up to the top-tier national finals, scheduled for September 14 and 15.

Sadly, the gutsy run of the Herts Hawks, in the third tier, came to an end on Sunday, falling 13-3 to the Sidewinders of Enfield in their quarter-final battle.

While the team will be sorely disappointed, they represented the club admirably throughout the season and can hold their heads high.

For more details on the events this weekend, please visit the Herts Baseball Club website, www.hertsbaseball.com

Kings go top after six-goal thriller at Bedford

Kings Langley went top of SSML Division One after a 3-3 draw with Bedford, but were left ruing dropped points after failing to build on early dominance.

Langley took the lead after nine minutes when Joe Gallagher hit a stunning 20-yard drive into the top corner after a five man inter-passing move across the face of goal.

The visitors doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Tom Carter won the ball and fed a short pass to Gallagher, who beat one man and, with minimum back-lift, bent a rising left foot scorcher into the net.

With Gary Connolly and Sam Warrell running the midfield and Dean Hitchcock solid in defence, Kings turned on the style and Carter came close to adding a third as his effort grazed the bar.

But two goals is rarely enough at Bedford and, when Ricardo Bailey brought down Ashley Kersey, Jamie Cole gratefully tucked away the penalty.

The hosts looked a different team in the second half and began to match their visitors’ passing repertoire.

When Luigi Rocco beat Bailey to a fifty-fifty ball to play in Chris Johnson for the equaliser, their tails were up.

The initiative was now firmly with Bedford and Johnson echoed Gallagher’s early strike, picking his spot after the ball had been worked across goal to put the hosts 3-2 ahead.

But Kings were in no mood to walk away empty-handed after their excellent first half display and Carter hit the post with a close range effort, before sub Adam Hallissey latched on to a poor clearance to lob the keeper and give his side the point they deserved.

Connor Calcutt at the double for the in-form Comrades

A goal in each half from Connor Calcutt handed Berkhamsted a 2-0 win at St Margaretsbury and maintained their impressive opening to the campaign.

The Comrades started well and were on top for long spells of the game, eventually forcing a deserved breakthrough.

Josh Chamberlain won a corner which he took himself, picking out tall centre-back Ed Canham who headed against the crossbar – with Calcutt on hand to nod home the rebound.

Joel Maybury and his side were uncomfortable whenever Canham came up for corners and free-kicks, with the defender heading another Chamberlain corner just over the bar.

At the other end, Davy Edmee looked the only St Margaretsbury player likely to trouble Berko’s settled defence, who kept a clean sheet for the first time this season.

The hosts did hit the foot of the post in the first half, but Berko forward James Towell came into the game and had one goal disallowed for a push before seeing a header saved by Ben Bateman.

Berko forced three successive corners early in the second half and Steve Hawes had a shot kicked off the line as the visitors continued to press.

Ashley Addison came on for Towell and soon afterwards Berko doubled the lead.

A fine ball released Calcuttm who sprung the offside trap and netted with a low shot past the advancing Bateman to make sure of the three points.

The victory makes it four wins on the spin for Berko, and moves them up to fourth place in the SMML Premier Division.

Next up for the Comrades is an FA Cup clash against Harefield United at Broadwater on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Berko go into the game as slight favourites, having won 3-1 when the two sides met in the league earlier this season.

Skinner pounces late to earn the points for Athletic

Tring Athletic recorded a deserved 2-1 victory over a much improved Hatfield Town side to move up to seventh in the SMML Premier Division table.

Visitors Hatfield – who have made a bright start to the campaign – took the lead in the 54th minute but Tring showed excellent character to draw level 15 minutes later through Greg Deer.

It was then left to Martin Skinner to bag the winner in the 90th minute with a bullet header to snatch the victory for his side.

The win continues Athletic’s remarkable record against Hatfield – making it 11 wins from 11 games.

More than 100 girls aged from 11 to 15 joined experienced players and coaches from Hertfordshire Mavericks Netball Club, Arsenal Ladies Football Club and Saracens Women’s Rugby Club for a day of sporting fun, skills and games.

The Girls Get Sporty event – a new initiative specifically designed to encourage girls to take up a new sport in a fun and inspirational environment – was held at the Hertfordshire Sports Village.

Around 40 coaches and players, many of whom are involved in their sports at national level, led demonstrations, held skills sessions and took part in question and answer forums before the team mascots competed in a finale race. Arsenal Ladies’ Gunnersaurus emerged victorious.

The free event attracted girls from across the county and was organised in partnership with the three clubs, the Herts Sports Partnership and Hertfordshire Sports Village.

The girls were presented with a souvenir photograph to take away as a memento of the day.

Jane Shewring of the Herts Sports Partnership said: “It’s great to see so many youngsters involved in these three sports and we are confident that many of them will continue to play one or more of these sports in the future.

“With so many high quality coaches and players involved today, we really hope that the youngsters will be inspired and take away with them the belief that they can enjoy, improve and achieve through sport.”

A Hertfordshire coaching bursary scheme was also launched during the day.

The scheme is managed by the Herts Sports Partnership and specifically encourages women to take up sports coaching and support existing female coaches to develop their skills.

A youngster from TringRugby Club enjoyed a day to remember as he scored a goal at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

Adam Yule, seven, was invited to play a part in the 30th anniversary celebrations of the club’s Junior Gunners young supporter scheme.

He was one of 30 Junior Gunners to take part in a game of football with the Arsenal first team on the Emirates Stadium pitch.

The match – which was the first of its kind at Arsenal – saw the young fans take on Arsene Wenger’s team, with the help of England star Theo Walcott who joined the Junior Gunners team midway through. Adam scored his team’s second goal.

To commemorate the Junior Gunners’ 30th birthday, Adam then headed out into the middle of the pitch to release one of 30 balloons into the sky.

Each contained a free Junior Gunners membership for the 2013/14 season, to be claimed by the people that found them.

On a memorable day, Adam also had the chance to watch the Arsenal team train and to attend a Gunners’ Q&A session where he was able to put a question to his favourite player Jack Wilshere.

Adam said: “I had a brilliant day at Arsenal. Not only did I get to meet my favourite players I was able to play football with them too!”

Arsenal-mad Adam was selected at random to take part in the day from more than 30,000 Junior Gunners.

Staff at Sportspace Hemel Hempstead have been celebrating a record-breaking charity drive.

The 75 participants finally had confirmation of the total amount raised for their Swimathon held in April, learning they had earned £8,160.34 for Marie Curie Cancer Care – the highest amount ever raised by the Dacorum Sports Trust centre.

Aquaspace manager Jo Bevil-Gahan said: ‘We are delighted that so many local people took part.

“The commitment from both individuals and teams to train, and to raise funds was amazing.

“We had staff, customers, family groups and individuals taking part, and it was a real mix of people who have been swimming for years, alongside people who have only recently taken up the sport. The community spirit was infectious!”

Swimathon nationally raised more than £2.4 million for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

For anyone who would like to start training for next year’s event, the swims will take place on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22.

Sportspace offers informal coaching sessions called Swimfit where customers can pay the normal price for a swim, but there is a swimming coach on the poolside to offer help and assistance.

Swimfit sessions run on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9pm at Hemel Hempstead and on Thursdays from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at Berkhamsted.

A double dose of delight for hot prospect Hannah

A talented youngster from Berkhamsted Golf Club has secured an England Golf east region double in the individual and team championships.

Five handicapper Hannah Screen, 13, won the 36-hole U15 trophy at the East Region Girls’ Championship at Stowmarket Golf Club in Suffolk with rounds of 79 and 77.

Then, along with seven other county girls, Hannah played in the East Region Inter-County Junior Match Days Championships at Bawburgh Golf Club in Norfolk.

Playing in an 18-hole, singles scratch matchplay format, Hannah secured 3.5 points from her five matches.

After a nail-biting finish, Hertfordshire were crowned English east region junior county champions for the second year running – by just a 1/2 point margin.

“It was so tight this year,” Hannah said. “I won 1.5 of my points in two of my matches at the 18th hole. Each putt our players made counted at the end – it was really exciting!”

Earlier in the year, Hannah also helped two other teams to notable triumphs.

First, in her debut first team appearance for the East Region Ladies County team, she secured a valuable point that helped Hertfordshire to go on to win the event and put them through to the National County Finals.

In other action, John F Kennedy Year 8 pupil Hannah, together with sixth-form teammates Sean Kelly and George Denton, beat 25 other schools to claim joint runners-up spot at the English National Schools Golf Team Championship at Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire.

Supported by PGA coach Lee Jordan, head professional at Little Hay Golf Club, and other England Golf development training, Hannah works hard on regular practice drills to enjoy individual success, too.

She was joint-third in the County Ladies Championship at East Herts, retained the 36-hole Ladies’ Club Championship at Wyke Green GC in Middlesex for the second year running, and was fifth-best English girl at the U13 national finals in August.

She has also secured several top-30 finishes at elite amateur ladies events as she competes against high quality fields for the experience it brings.

The modest teenager said: “I am pleased with the year overall – especially the team performances and competing at an elite ladies’ level for the first time this year.

“If I keep up practice and fitness work over the winter I hope next year will be better still.”

Dacorum clubs urging football fans to show their support on Non League Day

Football fans across the country are being encouraged to get behind their local team on Saturday, September 7 as part of Non League Day 2012.

And there is plenty of choice in Dacorum, with Hemel Hempstead Town, Tring Athletic, Berkhamsted and Kings Langley all in action at home on the day.

Non-League Day was set up by James Doe in 2010 as a social media experiment, after being inspired by a pre-season trip to Devon to watch Queens Park Rangers play at Tavistock.

It has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves and the fans that decide to turn up on the day.

Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day gives fans across the country the chance to see what’s going on at a club that might be on their doorstep which they may be unfamiliar with.

Many non-league clubs are almost exclusively volunteer-run, with money taken at the turnstiles often funding thriving youth set-ups, projects and facilities which are of benefit to the whole community.

For many supporters of non-league football it’s the sense of belonging and preservation of traditional values that remains so appealing.

The vast majority of games still kick-off at 3pm, ticket prices are affordable, and you can often stand anywhere in the ground.

Former Lincoln City, Watford, Aston Villa, Wolves and England manager Graham Taylor has given his support to this year’s Non-League Day event.

Taylor, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio 5 Live, said: “The importance of non-league and grassroots football should never be underestimated.

“We all start in the latter, and hundreds of us need the former, simply because it is such a small percentage of players who can attain and succeed at full-time professional level.”

Selected fixtures scheduled to take place on Non League Day include: Hemel Hempstead Town v St Neots Town, Tring Athletic v Eaton Manor, Berkhamsted v Hertford Town and Kings Langley v Colney Heath.

The Tudors tackle St Neots in the Calor League Southern Premier Division, while the other three fixtures are FA Vase ties.

Hemel Stags duo Sharp and Mbaraga to miss Gateshead Thunder clash

Hemel Stags talisman Chad Sharp remains sidelined for his side’s trip to Gateshead Thunder on Sunday.

Stags are also missing Eddie Mbaraga, who is out with a knee injury.

Hemel coach Troy Perkins said: “We’ve had a couple of disappointing performances in our last couple of games.

“We’ve got to get back to winning ways and put in a really solid performance heading into the play-offs.

Gateshead coach Kevin Neighbour, meanwhile, has urged his squad to go out with a bang as they prepare for their final game of 2013.

Thunder have shown real improvement in the last three months and Neighbour, who will leave the club after Sunday’s game, is desperate to finish with a win.

He said: “It’s been a year of change and progress, and the lads spoke on Tuesday about rounding the year off well.

“After putting together a string of performances and really developing some belief over the last 10 weeks, that’s how they want to finish.”

On Hemel Stags, Neighbour added: “They’ve done very well in their first year. Quite a large part of their team has been together for a few years and that’s really worked in their favour.

“You want a core of lads that will take you forward and I’m sure they’ll get better next year.”

Evergreen Swaysland’s super strike is not enough to seal win for Tring Corinthians

$

A depleted Tring Corinthians closed out an unbeaten August and demonstrated a growing resilience as they held Brimsdown Rovers to a 2-2 draw at a sunny Icknield Way.

Corries started the brighter and dominated the early exchanges, as Stephenson and debutant Alex Cattermole probed the flanks and with the evergreen Mick Swaysland continuing his excellent early season form.

But the visitors took the lead against the run of play as a thundering shot hit the bar and unluckily bounced off Parker into the net on 36 minutes, rattling the home side and knocking them out of their stride.

The visitors were in control in the opening exchanges after the break, but Corries gradually got back into the game and levelled on 75 minutes.

Gomm played a pinpoint ball into the back post, Swaysland’s header hit the inside of the post and Gordon was on hand to finish for his second strike of the season.

Corries then took the lead thanks to an early contender for goal of the season, Swaysland’s stunning strike from outside the box curling inside the post on 84 minutes.

That wasn’t enough for a win because Rovers broke through the middle and rattled in a 30-year screamer of their own to earn a share of the spoils.

Corries boss Simon Lacey said: “After a difficult preseason, we knew August would be a difficult one for us and having a full side unavailable today stretched us to breaking point. However, we are undefeated this season so far and showing incredible character, resilience and self-belief.

“When you take the lead as late as we did, with such a stunning strike, I’d expect us to close the game out and take all three points, but the equaliser was a quality goal and a draw was probably just about a fair result.

“Given the pre-season we have had, I’d delighted that we have shown our strength and character and we will build from here.”

Calcutt hat-trick fires Comrades into next round of FA Cup

$

A second-half hat-trick from Connor Calcutt fired Berkhamsted through to the next round of the FA Cup as they saw off the challenge of visitors Harefield United.

Berkhamsted were unchanged for their 4-1 win and Ed Canham opened the scoring with his first goal for the club, coming up and volleying home a Josh Chamberlain corner past Michael Pearce in the 10th minute.

The home side were generally well on top and Jordon Frederick had a shot kicked off the line, while Pearce tipped a Calcutt shot for a corner. Pearce’s legs came to United’s rescue as he kept out a shot from James Towell.

Chamberlain had a couple of chances at the railway end, arriving for back post headers, one of which hit the bar .

But United were able to get back on terms when Jack Copson was caught pushing at a corner to concede a penalty and earn a yellow card. Skipper Paulo Cicero gave Carl Tasker no chance from the spot kick.

Any fears that the home side could be made to rue a string of missed changes were put to rest as Calcutt put the home side ahead with half an hour remaining, capitalising on a defensive slip to fire home.

A Jack Copson thunderbolt which rebounded off the post could have put them further ahead. and a Canham header from a Chamberlain cross was cleared off the line as the Comrades pressed to make the game safe.

United threw caution to the wind in their search for an equaliser, sending on extra forwards including former Broadwater favourite Ben Porter.

But Calcutt killed off their hopes with two goals in the last five minutes, first finishing off a good move with a bending shot and then completing his hat trick with a solo effort after running in from the right hand side of the area.

A trip to Daventry Town is the next FA Cup challenge on Saturday, September 14.

In the Suburban League Berkhamsted’s development squad reserves drew 1-1 away to Southall Reserves, with Tommy Twelves scoring.

Berkhamsted are back in first team action tomorrow, Tuesday, night as they take on London Tigers in the league.

On Saturday they take on Hertford Town in the FA Vase hoping for a bumper crowd. The old Berkhamsted Town club once reached the Villa Park final of this prestigious national competition.

Wembley dreams dashed as Athletic are dumped out of the cup

Tring Athletic will have to put the champagne back on ice for another year after their dreams of FA Cup glory were snuffed out by Southern League side North Greenford United.

Athletic were still in contention against the team managed by former Chelsea player Neil Shipperley until the final minutes, but finished on the wrong end of a 3-0 away defeat.

The Tring side conceded an early goal to their opponents, who play one level higher in the football pyramid, but rallied to share the honours during much of the game.

After weathering the early storm Ath posed problems for the home side from Graham Hall’s corners and free kicks. Twice Michael Green got his head to set pieces but both times keeper Lee Pearce was able to save comfortably.

Midway through the half Greg Deer found the net and even though the goal was ruled out for offside the Athletic midfielder was adamant his strike should have stood because the ball was played to him by a home player.

In midfield Trevor Gibbs grew in prominence as the game wore on, and Athletic continued to threaten from set-piece plays.

A Stuart Stedman free kick fell to Chris Salmon whose snap volley was clutched by Pearce, and then the keeper had to stretch to tip over a Jack Seaton header from a Graham Hall corner.

Pearce was then grateful to a defender who cleared a goalbound Salmon header from the following corner.

At the other end Salmon and Michael Green produced classy challenges to snuff out threatening Greenford attacks.

After the break Athletic continued to create chances but never really tested Pearce.

The home side made the most of their speed on the break to strike the crucial blow in the 78th minute, and a third soon after flattered the home side.

Athletic return to league action tomorrow, Tuesday, with a visit to London Colney.

Stags get set for play-off test after Gateshead defeat

$

A narrow 24-22 defeat and a determination to play for the win until the death marked the final game of the regular league programme for Hemel Stags in their debut Championship One campaign.

Taking on Gateshead Thunder in the Tyneside city’s famous International Stadium, Stags were already secure in the knowledge that their form so far had won them a top six playoff place.

They trailed by four points at half-time but were only two points down with two minutes left on the clock.

When they were presented with a penalty in front of the posts coach Troy Perkins sent out the order to run the ball and try for the win, but the gamble didn’t pay off and it was the home side who were celebrating at the final whistle.

Gateshead had opened the scoring on seven minutes, with full back Luke Hardcastle crossing the line and then converting to put his side 6-0 up.

Stags levelled on 15 minutes when a kick through on the last tackle found Harry Mostyn for a simple touch down with BJ Swindells converting.

The visitors nosed ahead three minutes later through a penalty for the markers not standing square and opened up some daylight when prop James Howitt took the ball to Aaron Small who spun out of the tackle to score, Swindells again converting the try.

But the Stags bungled the resulting kick off and from the scrum Gateshead’s Johnson went over on the right wing to bring the hosts back to within two points.

Amateurish Stags tackling was to blame when Jason Payne scored a try, converted by Hardcastle, which turned the tables before the turnaround.

The second half began with Gateshead on the front foot, Stags having to be at their best to hold prop Welton up over the line.

The visitors took the fight back to Gateshead and earned themselves a goal line drop out.

Gateshead took the option of two points when they won a penalty for ripping before a try in the left corner by the influential Chris Heil opened up a telling gap, increased by Hardcastle’s kick.

The Hemel fightback saw a perfectly weighted cross-field kick by Ben Young claimed by a leaping Harry Mostyn to chalk up his second try of the game.

A flowing move by the backs was finished by Eddie M’Baraga barging over and Swindells added the extras to give Stags a scent of victory and the bold decision to go for broke at the death.

Oxford are the opponents for the playoff game at Pennine Way on Sunday, kicking off at 3pm.

Hemel Hempstead U17s scoop county cricket honours

A comfortable six wicket victory over Knebworth Park on Sunday saw Hemel Hempstead U17s crowned county champions.

Their Hertfordshire County Cup triumph at Bishop’s Stortford came after they dismissed their opponents for 125, and Nick Gurney starred with both bat and ball to play a large part in the victory.

Knebworth elected to bat first on a slow wicket but were tied down by some accurate seam bowling, notably from Matt Bateman who constantly beat the bat but just failed to find an edge.

After 20 overs Knebworth had reached 66 without loss but badly needed to up the run rate.

Then Charlie Hoskins made the breakthrough, dismissing opener Harvey Turner for 18 before danger man Tom Hills chanced a run to Aaron Wilson at short third man and was run out for 43.

Hemel spinners Nick Gurney and Matt Dale then got to work and Park slumped from 73 without loss to 125 all out.

Gurney finished with 4-10 off 4.1 overs while Dale took 3-27 off his eight.

Hemel’s reply got off to a shaky start when Wilson was dismissed for a duck but Gurney then shared 40 run partnerships with Dale, Will Langley and Billy May before hitting the winning runs with nearly nine overs still to play.

Gurney finished unbeaten on 65, hitting 13 boundaries along the way.

Manager Steve May said that the team had dedicated their win to club chairman Roger Doodson, who died earlier this summer.

He added: “The boys have dominated all their games this summer and the way they have played the game has brought high praise from Hertfordshire cricket officials.

“Most of them are currently in the Under 16 age group so will still be eligible for this competition next summer”.

Green go down again, but there’s cause for comfort in 4-1 defeat

$

A fourth straight league defeat for Leverstock Green saw high-flying AFC Dunstable justify their position as pre-match favourites, but a vastly improved performance meant that for much of the game it looked like Dan Manzi’s side could take home a point.

There were plenty of chances at both ends before the home side took the lead in the 19th minute, Kyle Lincoln blasting home a far post cross past Green keeper Nigel Wharton, making his debut for the club.

Green were back on terms within two minutes, Stewart King making a darting run into the box and squaring to Adiel Mannion, who coolly finished from six yards.

The visitors then created a string of chances to take the lead, with Connor Deadman and Ben Edwards both trying to bundle home a loose ball only to see it blocked on the line.

King put one shot over the bar on 34 minutes, and soon after he was clean through and took the ball round the keeper, but delayed his finish too long .

Wharton produced a couple of sharp saves just before the break to make sure the scores remained level as the second half began.

The home side stepped up the pressure and when a corner was cleared to Courtney Massey his unstoppable shot from 25 yards put Dunstable back into the lead.

Again Green responded well, with Davies testing keeper Darby with a classy long-range free kick and King hitting the bar with a header, with another header from Ben Edwards deflected onto the woodwork as he tried to follow up.

They were still very much in the game until a third Dunstable goal on 68 minutes gave them a mountain to climb.

Edwards hit the post on 82 minutes so when Massey shot home in stoppage time to make it 4-1 the scoreline flattered the victors.

On Tuesday night Green travel to Hillingdon Borough, looking for revenge for their FA Cup defeat, in what could be called an early six-pointer.

On Saturday they travel to SSML Division One side Winslow United in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase.

Clean sheet helps lift impressive Tudors up to second

Hemel Hempstead Town made it four wins out of four with a 3-0 win on the road at Burnham, returning from their travels with a clean sheet that reinforced their standing as the meanest team in the league.

They are also the most free-scoring, with 14 goals and only three conceded so far as they sit in second place in the Calor League Premier Division table.

Tudors never allowed the home side to settle but it took them until the 30th minute to take the lead, Ben Mackey having the simplest finish after a goalkeeper error left him walking the ball into an empty net.

David Pearce doubled the lead on 38 minutes after a shot by Ollie Thorne was parried into his path by the keeper.

After the break Danny Talbot made it safe after some excellent work down the right by the impressive Pearce.

The Tudors then took their foot off the gas but remained comfortably in control, with Moussa Diarra and Kieran Murphy looking very solid at the back.

A table-topping spot is the tempting prospect as Hemel Hempstead play host to Bedford at Vauxhall Road on Tuesday night.
