AFC Dunstable 6 Leverstock Green 2
Leverstock Green slumped to their eighth straight defeat as they were thrashed by AFC Dunstable on Saturday.
Dunstable raced into a 5-0 lead after just 29 minutes as the hosts threatened to run riot, but Levy regrouped to stem the tide for the remainder of the match.
The opening stages of the game gave little indication of what was to come, and it was a goal out of nothing when Courtney Massey opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a strike from distance.
The turning point came in the 21st minute when Leverstock were harshly penalised for handball by Tunde Owolabi inside the box – allowing Dale Turney to tuck away the resulting spot-kick.
A collapse ensued asSteph Tracey rounded keeper David Bailey to score a third on 23 minutes, before Jonathan Cooper took advantage of a gift to make it 4-0 three minutes later and Tracey scored again for a 5-0 lead inside 29 minutes.
Tobi Akin pulled a goal back for Leverstock in the 33rd minute, and Junior Bushiri ran onto a superb ball from Mark Shadbolt to lob the keeper shortly after half-time,
But any hopes of an unlikely comeback were extinguished after 53 minutes when Turney was put clean through to make it 6-2.
