Hemel Hempstead boxer Myles Cash will make his eagerly-awaited professional debut in Bethnal Green on Saturday night.

Super middleweight Cash takes on Irishman Joe Rea - who was a semi-finalist in Prizefighter - in a four round contest which will get under way at York Hall at around 7pm.

And St Albans Amateur Boxing Club member Cash says he is fully prepared for his bout.

“I think I can win on Saturday, most definitely,” he said. “I’ve been training hard for this fight for about six weeks now.”

Cash’s bout will be one a number of fights on the card in the Goodwin Promotions-arranged night, which features a title fight between Luton’s Michael ‘Chunky’ Devine and Dan Naylo for the vacant Southern Area super-featherweight belt.

And Cash is hoping that the magnitude of the event will help to kick-start his future boxing career.

“I’m really looking for a sponsor to help me get started,” he said.

“I’ve got my second pro fight in April and that will be shown on Eurosport.”

Cash’s professional debut comes as no surprise to those who have followed him throughout his amateur days.

Aged 14, the former Redbourn schoolboy won the coveted Golden Gloves champion title.

The Amateur Boxing Association-organised competition is considered the top competition for young boxers aged 12 to 14 and Cash’s success suggested he would go on to be a boxing star of the future.

Anybody interested in sponsoring Cash can contact him directly on 07402 924234.
