Hemel Town sailed through to the third round of the Red Insure Cup after producing a five-star second half display against Chertsey Town.
The Tudors went in at half-time trailing 1-0, but Dean Brennan’s side improved significantly after the break to turn the tie on its head.
Two goals from Alex Campana as well as strikes from Charlie Mpi, Jordan Parkes and debutante Ryan O’Toole earned the win and continued Hemel’s good run of form.
It was another impressive display from the Tudors, who are flying high at the top of the Evo-Stik league Southern Premier Division.
Brennan made a number of changes to his starting line-up following Hemel’s 2-1 victory over Stourbridge, and his side struggled to break down the Chertsey back line early on.
The Tudors saw two goals ruled out for offside as they looked for the opener, but it was Chertsey who took the lead three minutes before half-time with a fierce shot from Gavin Quintyne.
The goal came as a shock for the Tudors, but they responded in emphatic fashion after the interval.
Man of the match Campana set the revival on its way as he cut in from the right flank and rifled home in off the post after 51 minutes, and Mpi added the Tudors’ second on the hour mark.
From then it was all one-way traffic, and Campana added his second of the night two minutes later, before Parkes fired in Hemel’s fourth of the night.
Keen to make his mark on his first appearance for the club, O’Toole swept in a fifth for the Tudors with eight minutes remaining to add gloss to an already convincing win for his side.
