Kings Langley 5-0 Kentish Town

Top-scorer Jimmy Armstrong helped himself to a hat-trick as Kings Langley blitzed Kentish Town to get back to winning ways.

A mild January evening saw Armstrong open the scoring in the sixth minute as he collected Craig Lynskey’s cross before turning and firing home.

The striker came close again with a lob which flew just over the bar shortly afterwards, but a well marshalled Town back four ensured that there was no further scoring in the first half.

The Kings breakthrough eventually came midway through second period when Kentish keeper Edward Stopps was adjudged to have brought down Armstrong in the area after a race for a 50-50 ball.

Kings’ number nine made no mistake from the spot, before completing his hat-trick within a minute from a Steve Noonan through ball.

A new Kings strike force of Matt Johnson and Arturas Simakovas was introduced soon afterwards and they added a fourth when Johnson’s fierce shot was palmed out and Simakovas steered home the rebound.

In a final flourish, Sam Warrell’s corner was converted by a towering header from Liam James to complete a scoreline that, like three days earlier, was not a true reflection of the contest.

This time, however, Kings were on the right end of the result.
