 Holmer Green 0

Leverstock Green ended a winless run of six league games and completed their first league double of the season as they comfortably beat lowly Holmer Green at Pancake Lane.

Levy have been struggling of late, but put in a much-improved display to pick up a morale-boosting three points with goals from Tobi Akin (2), Brad Wadkins and Mark Burfoot.

The first chance for Levy came in the 20th minute when Kris Tyrell cut in from the left touchline and squared for James Dabbs, whose shot was saved by keeper Dan Little.

Two minutes later, Adam Hallissey’s pass put Burfoot in behind the Holmer defence, and the veteran striker teed-up Akin, who neatly slotted the ball home to put the hosts 1-0 up.

Holmer had a chance to equalise on 24 minutes when Billy Fraser’s pass put Allen through on goal, but he sent his shot well wide.

Levy needed a second goal, and it duly arrived on 35 minutes. Wadkins received the ball midway inside the Holmer half and beat two defenders before firing home.

With renewed confidence, Levy made it 3-0 in the last minute of the half. A cross from Tyrell bounced up off the turf and struck the hand of defender Ryan La Crette, giving Akin the chance to bag his second goal of the game from the spot.

The hosts added a fourth at the start of the second half through Burfoot, and Steve Benitez’s side held on comfortably for the win.
