Tonight’s National League South clash against Hayes & Yeading United is a ‘must-win’ game, according to Hemel Hempstead Town manager Dean Brennan.
The Tudors go into the game on the back of three consecutive draws, and Brennan says only a win is good enough if eighth-placed Hemel are to maintain the pressure on the sides above them in the table.
“It’s going to be a tough game – they are very well-organised defensively and I think they will come and try to frustrate us,” said Brennan.
“We have to win if I’m being honest; it’s vitally important if we want to stay in the upper echelons of this division, we have to win.”
Hemel were pegged back by table topping Bath City on Saturday, and Brennan is urging his side to build on that performance at Vauxhall Road tonight.
“We have to make Saturday’s point a good point by getting the win against Hayes & Yeading,” he said.
“I think that we will have to move the ball very quickly; we are hoping the rain stays and the pitch stays nice and slick so that we can really get after them.
“We are looking forward to the game and it should be another good one. If we want to compete for success, we have to win.”
In terms of his selection for the game, Brennan continued: “Dennis Oli is hopefully back for the weekend, but he won’t be fit in time for this one, and we are still waiting to hear news on Ed Asafu-Adjaue’s injury. That’s it at this moment in time.”
