Going off-road for the Gade Valley Harriers this week were father and son team Andy and William Terry, who took on the Eyam Fell Race in the Peak District.
In the main run, Andy completed the tough 10.4km course in 1:03:36. Competing in the Junior Fell Run, William excelled himself and finished first, with a 300m lead over the next runner.
Sunday had four different 10km races, in which the Harriers had six athletes competing. Tanya Saunders, Tina Searle and Carol Skates represented the Harriers at the Regents Park 10km, with all three ladies coming away with PBs. Searle was first home in 55:19, followed by Saunders in 57:45 and Skates in 1:08:00.
The Spitfire 10K in Colindale had Matt Ashby, Luca Ramusino, Helen Heathcote and Martin Storrie in the GVH colours, racing around the famous RAF Museum. Ashby had a great race and finished in 41:15, with Storrie next back in 51:46 ahead of Heathcote in 1:00:02 (PB) and Ramusino in 1:03:15.
Gade Valley Tri athlete Michael Birch was competing in the Sprint Triathlon in St Neots on Sunday. Birch took on a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run, finishing sixth in his age category in a total time of 1:24:52.
Andrew Wells was also at the St Neots Triathlon, but competing in the standard distance event, comprising a 1500m swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run. Wells finished third in his age category in a quick 2:44:59.
Concentrating on her swimming, Susie Ivin from GVH Tri challenged herself at the Dart 10K swim on Sunday. The event took place in the cold waters of the River Dart - starting at Totnes and ending in Dittisham - and Ivin completed in 3:25:06.
GVH also had Robert Bowler in action on Sunday when he travelled to compete in the Harlow 10-mile race. Bowler finished the mixed terrain course in a respectable 1:15:17
At the parkruns this week, the Harriers were in fine form, with a host of new PBs.
At the home parkrun of Gadebridge, the Harriers had eight runners competing. First back for GVH was Andy Bishop in 26:53. Bishop was followed by Sam Tucker 27:13, Lisa Pinder 27:35, Phil Mercer 29:12, Peter Tucker 32:49, Helen Cook 33:17 (PB), Claire Newing 37:37 and, acting as official back marker, Jenny Barnett in 46:23.
Black Park parkrun saw five GVH representatives in attendance, with Mark Crabtree storming round in 16:38, coming in first place and setting a blistering new PB.
Crabtree was chased home by Mikey Ferris, also setting a new PB of 18:11. Ferris was followed by Guy Woollett 19:22, Vince Ellerby 19:58 and Leona Flaherty 25:27.
St Albans saw Anthony James setting a new PB of 18:09, coming home in 11th place, with team-mate Anthony Willcox in 20:25.
In Panshanger, Welwyn Garden City, James Thomson and Dave Wise donned the GVH colours for their 5km off-road parkrun, where Thomson set a new PB of 21:31 with Wise also setting a new course PB of 21:53.
Tackling the hills of Tring was Tom North, who came home in 20:16.
