Hemel Hempstead Town face a crucial clash with Chelmsford City tonight as they look to keep their Conference South playoff dreams alive.
The Tudors go into the game on the back of a 4-2 victory over Hayes & Yeading on Saturday, and they know that they will need to build on that result at Vauxhall Road tonight.
Dean Brennan’s side currently sit in eighth place in the table, five points adrift of the playoff places but with two games in hand over Gosport Borough and one over Whitehawk.
A win tonight would put Hemel right back in the mix, but it is by no means a formality against a Chelmsford side who sit 10th and are unbeaten in their last three matches.
The Clarets drew 1-1 with Maidenhead United at the weekend and currently occupy 10th place in the division.
Hemel boss Brennan knows the importance of tonight’s game, and is urging his side to seize the opportunity to gain ground on their rivals.
“Ideally we want to keep more clean sheets and that’s something that we have to improve on if we are going to have success,” he said.
“We are going into the game with a lot of confidence but they are all tough games.
“Our away form is excellent and we have won nine on the road now but we’ve only won five at home and that’s something that we have to improve.
“Hopefully we can do that starting with taking the three points tonight.”
The Tudors will be without on-loan Reading centre-back Dom Hyam as he is on Scotland U21 duty, while right-back Dave King continues his three-match ban.
Hemel are favourites to win the game, with bookmakers pricing them at around 6/5, while Chelmsford are on offer in the region of 2/1. The clash kicks-off at 7.45pm.
