Dacorum & Tring AC’s young athletes held off stiff competition at the final EYAL league match of the season to finish second, pushing the club into seventh position overall out of 28 clubs from across the south east.
D&T finished on 3192 points, ahead of powerhouses including Barnet/Shaftesbury and cross-county rivals St Albans and Watford.
Once again, the U13 boys stole the show, placing first out of seven clubs in the Watford match.
Wins came from Kristian Imroth in the 1,500m, Tom Fisher in the 75m hurdles and Josiah Barker in the long jump, with a second place from Adam Jolly in the 800m, and thirds from Samad Ibrahim in the 100m and 200m, Ed Hopper in the high jump and Barker in javelin.
The boys also combined for an easy win in the 4 x 100m event.
A depleted U15 boys side ended the day fourth overall, which didn’t reflect the quality of some of the events
Sprint star Chenna Okoh won the 100m A, 200m A and 300m A, while Jerome Lana took the 100m B and Ben Collins won the 200m B, and the three also contributed to a strong win in the 4 x 100m relay.
Vincent Murray was a close second in the 1,500m, while Dan Hopper won the high jump and Lana won the discus.
The U17 boys managed to finish second overall, with a win from Dom Ashwell in the 200m and second places from Oliver Benveniste in the 100m, Rhys Rowlands in the 100m hurdles, Tobe Obi in the high jump, Farai Cheugeta in the long jump, George Brooks in the javelin and the 4 x 100m team.
The U17 girls took second, only two points behind eventual winners Basildon.
Jessica O’Sullivan had a fine day, winning the pole vault and triple jump and placing third in the 100m, while Amber Carroll won the 80m hurdles.
The girls scored a string of second-placed finishes, with Carroll in the javelin, Ellen Henry in high jump, Zoe Williams in long jump and Emily Kerman in shot putt and hammer.
Third places came from Charlotte Radcliffe in the 200m and Georgina Shelley in the 300m. The 4 x 100m team also ran well to finish second.
The U15 girls placed fourth out of seven teams in Watford, with second-placed finishes by Issy Amos in the 800m, Nikki Greaves in the 75m hurdles and long jump.
Grace Birdseye (1,500m), Greaves (high jump), Leah Moh (shot putt) and Natasha Tenty (discus) all placed third in their events, as did the 4 x 100m team.
The U13 girls also managed to hold on to fourth spot, with podium positions from Megan Sullivan in the 70m hurdles, Issie Smith in the high jump, and Tia Stonehouse in the long jump, Micaela Brewer in the shot putt, discus and javelin.
