Berkhamsted girls prove that they are the Angels of the North

Berkhamsted Gymnastics Club scooped the Club Cup for the highest overall score at the Miss Alpha Factor Angels of the North competition in Newcastle.

A team of 10 Berkhamsted gymnasts competed at the event, with each of the girls achieving podium positions in their individual categories.

On the first day of the competition, Katy Casesly finished third at Grade 14, while Amy Barrett was victorious at Grade 13 and Sofia Catlin finished second in the Compulsory 5 category.

The podium places continued to come thick and fast on day two, with Sadie Burt claiming top position at Grade 12, Amber Penaliggon winning Grade 11 , Lizzie Rowland finishing second at Grade 11 age 10-11 years, Lucy Phippen winning Grade 11 age 12 plus, Charlotte Chrispin taking second at Grade 10 and Lydia Sellen bagging third at Grade 8.

Sellen was also awarded a rosette for highest range and conditioning score, while Amelia Evans won the Grade 6 competition and took home a rosette for second-highest range and conditioning score.

It was a very proud moment for head coach Claire Thornton when Berkhamsted received their first place trophy. The club continues to go from strength to strength and the quality of their gymnasts is really shining through.
