Camelot Rugby Club U10s have made a bright start to the season after changes to the coaching team and the departure of a number of players.
The squad plays to the new RFU Shaping The Game rules – 8 a-side contact matches that have all the excitement of the adult game, while slowly introducing the youngsters into the intricacies of the rules.
Last weekend, two teams travelled to Hitchin and put in a promising display despite their hosts boasting three teams and a number of substitutes.
The two Camelot teams were split equally to encourage team play, development and enjoyment, whilst also ensuring they maintained a competitive edge.
One of the Camelot sides drew all three of their games, while the other lost all three of theirs – but the results were insignificant compared to the commitment, skill and determination shown by the players in three consecutive matches with no substitutes.
The U10s have two dedicated pitches at the Chaulden Lane Playing Fields, with training sessions or matches played every Sunday at 10am.
All players will take part in competitive fixtures and the club is on the lookout for new recruits to join this exciting young team. Anybody interested in taking part should contact head coach Dave Martin at djmartin9@hotmail.com
